We are excited to announce our church is in the process of purchasing land on which to build, realizing our past vision to bring the two campuses together, and minister at a physical location where we can continue to grow in numbers and kingdom impact! Below, view the land details, FAQs, and a word from Pastor Matt.
Future and Building
Why do we need land?
Due to consistent growth at both campuses, we are facing significant space challenges across multiple areas:
What were we looking for in a new location?
Our criteria for a new property included:
After years of searching, in the summer of 2024, we expanded our search area to include additional options.
Where is the land?
The property is located on the west side of K-7 between 47th Street and Johnson Drive. It offers visibility from K-7, access to utilities, and entry points from both 47th Street and Johnson Drive.
What is the timeline?
We are in a 120-day due diligence period to:
We also have two optional 60-day extensions for this period. During this time, we will finalize architectural and building plans in preparation for breaking ground.
What are we building?
Specific details will be shared soon.
What will services and ministry look like in the future?
A new location will enable us to better fulfill our mission to Share Jesus, Disciple Believers, and Love People. We plan to launch with two services, allowing attendees to worship an hour and serve an hour.
Finances
What is the cost?
Will we incur debt?
We are engaging the Baptist Foundation and their bank partner for financing. For any loans we make directly with the Baptist Foundation, the interest we pay to the foundation will 100% go to the Baptist Foundation.
Additional information on debt will be presented as part of the 2025 budget at the January church meeting.
We are in an excellent position to pay the land debt in 2025, but we very much need financial support to take the next steps of developing the new building. We welcome any and all financial gifts to help us with our new land and building.
Capital Campaign FAQs
How much do we need for the campaign?
The goal is to raise at least $750,000. This would allow us to pay off the debt for the K-7 property and provide finances for capital improvements that are needed. This will reasonably be accomplished if everyone increased giving by 20% (ex. if you are giving 10% today, it would be an increase to 12% over the next three years).
When will we close on the land?
Right now, we are planning to close on the land mid-late August 2025.
Will you track my giving on the campaign?
No, we will not track individual giving, but will be tracking overall giving trends.
How long is the commitment?
We are asking everyone to agree to a 3 year commitment for this campaign.
How do I pledge to the capital campaign?
You should be receiving a pledge card in the mail soon. If you don’t receive one by the end of July, you can pick one up at the welcome desk on a Sunday morning. Turn that card in to a red box in the back of the worship center at either campus.
When should I turn in the cards?
You can turn in your pledge cards at any time between now and August 3rd.
Who can I ask questions to about the campaign?
You can always ask one of our pastoral staff, or one of the members of our finance team.
Current Impact
What will happen to our existing properties?
Both properties were gifted to us debt-free. We plan to maintain both campuses until the new building is complete, after which we will sell them.
What will ministry look like in the interim?
All ministries will continue as they are, with the potential for additional Sunday worship services in the next year to address space constraints.
Will this move impact current staffing?
All current staff positions will transition to the new location. Additional positions may be added in the future.
Mission
Will we continue to serve Bonner and KCK?
Yes, we will remain engaged in both communities by:
How does this move fit into our Fellowship West mission and vision?
This move will significantly expand our ministry capacity, addressing space limitations that have hindered growth. Our mission to glorify God by sharing Jesus, discipling believers, and loving people will continue to drive every decision.
Will this move impact mission giving?
We remain committed to allocating 10% of our ministry budget to missions, a priority since our inception.
